This Vintage TDA Fire Truck I designed for Tonka was one of my favorites, therefor it gets it’s own special feature!

Since Tonka didn’t want to buy the license to the 1965 American LaFrance Fire Truck, it was my job to create a truck similar to the original but slightly different while looking like it came from the same period stylistically. A Photoshop photo bash did the trick of conveying the concept.

This was a standard procedure for nearly all Tonka die cast.

The preliminary hand sample turned out pretty good, but there were still some important tweeks that needed to happen to get it just right. Here’s a typical example of design revisions.
