Mr. James, I have working experience and two game title almost going on to the market, will this be valuable and will it get me more % of getting into a studio?
The same if i will have recommendation letter?
I’m only a starter and been on the game industry for a year
Please take a look at my (unfortunately not much newer updates) on my online blog portfolio.
I THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! THANKS!
Hi John,
Thanks very much for expressing your gratitude and appreciation, it makes producing these videos all the more worth it!
As for your questions:
Yes, any experience that is related to game design will absolutely help you. Your art shows a lot of promise, so keep going and keep practicing. Try to take some classes on how lighting and shadows work, this will be an easy way to give your work more realism.
Recommendation letters are always good to include in an application. Your art skills still need more development though, so try to have your letters focus more on your professionalism, good work ethic, and show your eagerness to help the overall production of the game. -Even if it means doing some cleanup of work others may not want to do. When you’re starting at the bottom, you have to be humble enough to do anything to get yourself in.
Good luck and keep me posted!
Hi James,
I am finding this series very helpful so thanks so much for posting it and keeping us up to date. I work as a 3d environment artist (Frontier Development) promised an Art Direction role on our next project however my love is concept art and I’m slowly working to that goal.
Thanks for all the help. I’ll be out there networking and learning so maybe one day we’ll bump into each other across the atlantic.
I’ll be dropping regularly to follow your podcasts.
Thanks again!
Jason.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the compliments, glad my series is helping out. Feel free to spread the word. If you can get an Art Director title that would really push you ahead to the next level, go for it! Btw, nice art on your site -great lighting!
