File this one in the hard core fanboy file; a lizard that bears a strangely accurate coloring to Spider-Man’s costume is the new must have collectible. -No joke. The article below from scifiwire.com sums it all up…

Forget Spider-Pig: The hot new animal superhero is Spider-Lizard, otherwise known as the rock agama, which has red-and-blue coloring that is an amazing, nay, uncanny match to Spidey’s costume.

Not surprisingly, the British newspaper The Telegraph reports that comic-book fans have been snapping up the exotic lizards as pets.

It can grow up to a foot long, and the squeamish may find it a problem to feed—a balanced diet for an agama includes locusts, crickets, mealworms and waxworms.Native to Kenya, the rock agama (Agama mwanzae) is unable to throw webs, but can change colour—the brightly coloured males will change brown at night or if frightened. They can also run on their hind legs, and—like Spidey—can scale vertical walls.

To which we say: Really?

Why not just adopt a nice rescue dog and dress him in a Spidey costume, like a (relatively) normal person? Or a cat? There’s plenty of domestic animals in need of adoption and no need to strip the rain forest bare of rare reptiles just because they have really cool coloration. We’re just saying.
